STALLION FACTOIDS
BOLERO is a classic example of the refining influence the Thoroughbred has
had on the modern Hanoverian. Although a 3/4 Thoroughbred himself, he
retained the quality and movement of his Hanoverian ancestors. A very
prepotent sire, Bolero stood at stud only 9 years, yet sired numerous
approved sons, States Premium mares, and top dressage horses. His line
continually produces good shoulders and withers, modern toplines and elastic
action.
FABRIANO was Champion of his 100-Day Stallion Test in 1990 with an
amazing overall score of 133, with 128 in dressage and 132 in jumping.
According to the Hannoveraner Jahrbuch Hengste ("Hanoverian Stallion
Yearbook") Fabriano scored 136 on his mares' dressage qualities, 125 on
their jumping abilities and 157 on their foundation (leg scores/correctness),
making him one of the very few stallions on the Hanoverian Verband's
Topliste for passing on both outstanding dressage and jumping qualities. Dr.
Wilkens, former managing director of the VhW, calls Fabriano "one of the best
performance horse producers of Hannover's breeding program today."
Fabriano is sire of Fabuleaux, a currently licensed Class I stallion (meaning he
received an amazing 120 or more overall score in his performance test).
WELTMEYER is perhaps the most sensational stallion and sire in the
Hanoverian breed in the last decade. He was 1998 Hanoverian Stallion of the
Year. At his licensing it was said that Weltmeyer had "perfect conformation
and movement which seemed to mock any reference to gravity, and whose
absolute grace and beauty held everyone spellbound." He was 1986
Hanoverian Stallion Licensing Champion, 1987 Stallion Performance Test
Champion (with an astounding 143.96 overall index, 143.94 dressage and
141.44 jumping indices), 1987 German National Champion 3-Year-Old Riding
Horse Champion, and the 1989 DLG Champion. In 2003, Weltmeyer was also
the U.S. Equestrian Federation's Leading Dressage Sire. He currently has 85
licensed sons in Germany and the U.S. -- tribute to his influence on the
Hanoverian breed. His offspring have earned more than 1.3M EURO in
international competition.
WERTHER is another versatile stallion whose progeny have become stars in
both dressage and jumping. To date, he has produced 12 horses who have
earned more than 10,000 EURO in dressage competition, and 7 who have
earned more than 10,000 EURO in jumping competition. Altogether, his
offspring have earned nearly 1.5M EURO. Werther was Hanoverian Stallion of
the Year in 1992. He has 41 licensed sons.
