CPR Sporthorses is a small family operation
that breeds Hanoverian and Iberian sport
horses. Crooked Pine Ranch (the "CPR" in
CPR Sporthorses) is located 20 miles north of
Las Vegas, New Mexico, in the eastern slopes
of the breathtaking Sangre de Cristo
Mountains, adjacent to the Pecos Wilderness.
The goal of our breeding program is to
produce horses of exceptional potential from
superb broodmares paired with champion
stallions. Our horses are "happy athletes"
with great movement, character and rideability.
They are pasture-raised in a herd environment,
which gives them the best start they could
have, both physically and emotionally. Our
emphasis on breeding for excellent
temperament combined with our commitment
to thoughtful handling and foundation training
creates a horse that is the perfect lifelong
partner -- steady, willing, level-headed and
kind, as well as beautiful.

"If you desire to handle a good war-horse so as to make his action the more magnificent and striking, you must refrain from pulling at his mouth with the bit as well as from spurring and whipping him. But if you teach your horse to go with a light hand on the bit, and yet to hold his head well up and to arch his neck, you will be making him do just what the animal himself glories and delights in."
Xenophon (430-355 BC) The Art of Horsemanship
