2008 Iberian Sporthorse foal (in utero)
By Altanero D (Andalusian) out of Baja
(ABRA-registered Quarter Horse mare)
$3,500
On August 1, 2007, Baja was bred with Altanero D
(right). As of this writing, she's about 150 days along
and doing just fine. According to our foal fetal
development timeline, currently the foal should be about
the size of a rabbit, weighing four or five pounds.
Although it looks more like a chihuahua than a horse at
this stage, with a big round noggin and skinny legs,
nonetheless it already has perfectly articulated joints,
chin whiskers and eyelashes.
There's a 50% chance the foal will be grey like its
fabulous sire, but there's also a chance it will be buckskin
(19%), bay (19%), black (6%) or smoky black (6%).
We're hoping for a filly -- but a little colt would be
sweet, too. We can't wait to see what pops out!
We expect the foal to be born around the first week of
July 2008. More updates to come as the day
approaches!

Horses for Sale 2008 Iberian SH (in utero)
|
Altanero D is a 21-year-old Cria Caballar-approved
National Champion Pura Raza Espaniola (PRE) stallion.
This Grand Prix stallion demonstrates his versatility and
athleticism by excelling in the show ring in western,
English, and Alta Escuela (High School) dressage. He
passes along his kind temperament and tons of hair to all
his offspring.
With his dreamy looks, it's not hard to imagine him as a
guest performer at horse shows and exhibitions,
demonstrating haute ecole dressage movements, and in
fact, he performs at venues all over the United States at
an age when many show horses have retired. This bodes
well for the soundness and longevity of the offspring.
