CPR Sporthorses is a small family operation
that breeds Hanoverian and Iberian sport
horses. Crooked Pine Ranch (the "CPR" in
CPR Sporthorses) is located 20 miles north of
Las Vegas, New Mexico, in the eastern slopes
of the breathtaking Sangre de Cristo
Mountains, adjacent to the Pecos Wilderness.
The goal of our breeding program is to
produce horses of exceptional potential from
superb broodmares paired with champion
stallions. Our horses are "happy athletes"
with great movement, character and rideability.
They are pasture-raised in a herd environment,
which gives them the best start they could
have, both physically and emotionally. Our
emphasis on breeding for excellent
temperament combined with our commitment
to thoughtful handling and foundation training
creates a horse that is the perfect lifelong
partner -- steady, willing, level-headed and
kind, as well as beautiful.
"When God created the horse He said to the magnificent creature: I have made thee as no other. All the treasures of the earth lie between thy eyes. Thou shalt carry my friends upon thy back. Thy saddle shall be the seat of prayers to me. And thou wilt fly without wings, and conquer without any sword. Oh, Horse."
